Supplier passport

Check your suppliers without the endless back-and-forth.

Buyers send every supplier their own questionnaire and chase answers for weeks. Suppliers answer the same questions again for every customer. With about.biz a supplier proves it once, every fact checked at its source, and shares it with a link.

A domain or a link to the website. You sign in with your work address; only you see the result.

Free during the pilot. A supplier? Make your passport.

The problem

The same supplier answers the same questions for every customer.

Since 15 August 2026, more than 8,000 organisations under the Dutch Cyberbeveiligingswet must test their direct suppliers, and repeat it periodically. Every customer does it in its own format.

As a buyer

Today

  • You e-mail every supplier your own questionnaire, often a spreadsheet.
  • You chase answers for weeks: at 9 in 10 organisations one assessment takes 31 to 90 days.
  • You cannot check whether it is true. Only 4% of supplier-risk teams are highly confident in the answers.

With about.biz

  • You request a passport and see at once what can be checked without the supplier.
  • If the supplier already has a passport, you get it straight away, if it allows that.
  • Every fact comes with its source and date. Your requirements and your judgement stay yours.

As a supplier

Today

  • Every customer sends its own questionnaire, at more than three in four organisations with 101 to 350 questions.
  • You answer the same questions again and attach the same certificate again.
  • A logo on your website does not convince: nobody can see who checked it.

With about.biz

  • You fill in your passport once, and we check it at the source.
  • The next customer gets a link instead of a new questionnaire.
  • You decide who sees what, and you revoke a link whenever you want.

How it works

One request starts it. Every finished passport makes the next request instant.

  1. 01

    Request

A buyer asks about a supplier: its website, plus its company registration number and a contact address if it has them. Only business accounts with a work e-mail can ask.
  2. 02

    First check

about.biz at once checks everything that needs no help from the supplier. Only the buyer who asked sees the result.
  3. 03

    Invitation

The buyer sends the request from its own mailbox, with a ready-made text and a link that is unique to this request. The supplier gets it from a sender it knows.
  4. 04

    Prove the website

The supplier shows that the website is its own. Only whoever controls the domain can do that.
  5. 05

    Complete once

Confirm the registration, add certificates (we check them with the certification body), answer one questionnaire of 20 questions and sign it.
  6. 06

    Reuse

The next buyer who asks gets the passport at once, as far as the supplier allows. No new questionnaire, no new invitation.

The invitation comes from you, from your own mailbox. We send no reminders and do not track who opens an e-mail.

The seal

One seal, always dated.

The seal has one segment per required check. A segment fills only when that check succeeded at the source, or when a named person signed for it. If something fails or expires, it stays visible. A seal without a date is not a seal.

The seven parts of the default seal

  1. 01Owns its website: proven with a code in the domain settings, a file on the website or an e-mail to the domain administrator
  2. 02Legal entity active, in the company register
  3. 03No running insolvency
  4. 04No match on a sanctions list
  5. 05Website and e-mail security checked
  6. 06Security contact confirmed
  7. 07Questionnaire signed, no older than twelve months

A stated fact, such as a SOC 2 report, is on the passport but never fills a segment: it cannot be checked.

Where we check

Every fact is checked where it is kept.

A passport is only as good as the sources behind it. Under every fact is the source it came from, and when.
  • Company registers

Does the company exist, and is it active? We look it up in the national company register.

  • Certification bodies

Does the certificate hold, for this scope, today? We look in the register of the body that issued it.

  • Sanctions and insolvency data

Is the company on a sanctions list, or in insolvency proceedings?

  • The company's own website

Is this really their website? And what anyone can see from outside: e-mail security, TLS and security.txt.

  • A named signer

Who answers for what no register can check?

This is what a source line looks like:

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from a certificate or trust mark?
A certificate shows that an auditor once assessed something. about.biz shows per fact what checks out at the source right now, with the source and the date. A supplier's certificates we actually check in the certification body's register. You set the requirements; about.biz provides the evidence.
What does it cost?
about.biz is free during the pilot. Every kind of check stays available for free afterwards too. Payment never changes a label.
Who sees the data?
Only the buyer who asked sees the first check. Nothing about a company that has not claimed its passport is public. A supplier decides who it shares with, and whether it has a public page.
Does an AI model decide about a company?
No. Labels come from fixed rules or from a named member of our staff. A model never decides.
Can an AI agent check a passport?
Yes. Every public passport is also available as data at about.biz/{domain}.json: the same facts as the page, each with its source and date, and the state of the seal. An agent that buys on your company's behalf can check what was verified about a supplier before it orders. It only sees what the supplier itself made public; for any other company the answer is the same: not on about.biz.
What if a check cannot run?
Then it says “Unavailable”, with the source and the date. A check that did not run never looks like a check that found nothing.
Does about.biz replace my own supplier assessment?
No. The requirements and the judgement stay yours. about.biz makes the evidence reusable and shows where and when it was checked.

Checked at the source.

Request a supplier's passport, or create your own. It is free during the pilot.
